ECards and all kinds of animated smileys, characters, banners and “zwinkys” are very popular on the Internet. Especially Christmas cards, when you don’t want to talk to the person or buy them anything - just send an animated card! I got a couple of them this Christmas, but most interesting was the Dancing Elfs campaign from OfficeMax.  As you see above, it’s dancing elfs that you can put any image in the designated area. 

According to this article  OfficeMax increased their traffic by 89% for the week before Christmas.   I think that says a lot about where advertising industry is going. It’s going for web traffic, and to get those visitors businesses are willing to think outside the box and incorporate unusual means. Well, more free content to us!
